Administrative Stewards

Office Volunteers: Help includes, but is not limited, to preparing the Lychgate for mailing, delivering drop shipments for bulk mailing, folding bulletins during Holy Week and Christmas, answering the telephone and retrieving the mail when paid staff are on vacation, organizing the photo directory process, assisting with the annual reports, changing hymn boards, keeping welcome material in the pews for each Sunday service, emptying the recycling bins in the copy room, and basic data entry to update our membership files.

St. Barnabas Guild: The mission of this group is to “get the good word out” about St. Michael’s in ways that are welcoming, uplifting, unexpected and positive. SBG offers church tours, greeting and receptions at public concerts, publicizing St. Michael’s events through press releases, signs and banners, taking and posting photos for the Lychgate, website and media, participating in the welcoming aspect of the Fete & Faire, and focusing on the history of the church.

Fiscal Stewards

Annual Giving Campaign Team: Every fall, the Every Member Canvas is held to inform and educate members of the parish about the ministries intended for the next fiscal year, the expectations for Christian giving and the specific financial and volunteer needs of the parish to accomplish its mission. How the campaign is conducted may vary from year to year; leadership rotates but the raising of stewardship consciousness and generosity is an on-going goal. Anyone is welcome to serve as an organizer, visitor and/or witness in giving.

Counters: In teams of two, counters count and record the Sunday offertory of alms. Training is required and the time involved varies, generally about 30 minutes after the lOam Sunday Holy Eucharist, once per month.

Finance Committee: This committee meets quarterly with our Investment Advisor to review the status of St. Michael's investment portfolio, including performance during the preceding quarter and allocations, and to make changes deemed prudent. The Committee also provides oversight for all bank assets as well as the parish budgetary process.

Property Stewards

Dragon Ladies: (or Dragons, on becoming a mixed group) Women and men who fill in the gaps of cleaning, straightening, organizing, and beautifying the sanctuary, parish house and grounds. Meeting most Tuesdays (but the day is negotiable) for several hours, this is a ministry of property stewardship, fellowship and miscellany (e.g., watering plants, organizing closets, making puppets). No experience needed, learn as you work. All welcome.

Lay Weeders: A gardener's ministry, meeting irregularly and as needed during the spring, summer and fall to care for the grounds. Work includes weeding, mulching, planting, caring for containers, pruning. Some gardening experience preferred but happy to train. All welcome.

Property Commission: This ministry oversees the stewardship of our real properties in prioritizing projects and seeing that they are accomplished, either through outside sources or by volunteer effort and by recommending to the vestry any extraordinary work. Its mission statement is: To be faithful stewards of the physical plant and grounds of all properties of the parish. Regularly scheduled meetings are bi-monthly on the third Tuesday evening.
